This novels contains a lot of the puzzle pieces to make a great story. What is falls short on is plot progression and loose ends. The whole novel is centered around a modern day person being transported to a fantasy world with a primeval-ish setting. There is tribalism-ish, prehistoric-ish creatures, battles, and civilization building aspects. However throughout the entire story the main character only ever gains and pursues power and knowledge from his fantasy world ancestors. Essentially all powers and abilities he gains, from agriculture to magic powers, are rediscovered lost arts. While he does achieve re-attaining many of the powers of his predecessors, he doesn't develop any of his own. In a similar vein the story never delves into how or why he was sent back to the past or showcases him paving new roads of researching and developing these powers. In combination to this power system is also a soft magic system with an unclear progression. Resulting in the important battles being won through the scenario of: 'drawing from power source X, from the ancestor, with strong emotions, Shao Xuan overpowered his enemies'. All of this makes the novel feel like it has a good setting and world building, but a lacking plot. It feels to me like the author is torn between creating an original fantasy world and making a social commentary on how advanced and beautiful the civilisation of the stone-to-bronze age actually was. The problem with that is that the depicted world is fantasy. As mentioned, another aspect where the novel falls short is loose ends. Many times the main character discovers a old power, fights an enemy, without a conclusion, and these are often never again utilized or serves as a plot point. An example of this is a wolf companion that the main character has from the very beginning of the story. It almost never gets brought along on the main characters journeys, and is mostly irrelevant to the plot. The author seemingly has designs for this wolf, giving it power ups and investing a lot on building up its individuality. But then never puts any of it to use. At one point the main character finds a way to get a special magic eye for the wolf, which has lost an eye. An eye that lets the wolf see things that cannot be seen, and even see the future. This power is never relevant. It is never mentioned if the wolf has any visions of the future, and it never discovers things that other's cannot see. It guards a field and a fleet, but it never leads to confrontation, only to the wolf growling a couple of times. The animal companions are some of the best aspects of the story. But they are under-utilized and gets left behind. Over all the world building is pretty good, the descriptions of the animals as well, and the powers are interesting. But as none of these are really implemented fully in the story. All in all there are many good elements, but the author (in my eyes) would have been better off focusing on bringing the story to an end and tying up loose threads. As it is the novel feels unfinished and unpolished.

A very unique and amazing slice-of-life novel in the mystical caveman style. Despite the slightly rushed ending, this book remains a literature masterpiece. This book somehow manages to balance a relaxed and soothing reading experience with the often brutal lifestyle of early humans. You know that the main character will always be safe but you can't help but feel a slight tension at certain moments in the book. The first few chapters are kind of rough because the mc still needs to mature a bit, but it becomes so much better soon after. Also, the writing style is extremely consistent so if you don't like it initially, it's not worth reading the rest of the novel.

I'll divide my ratings into 2: Chapter 1- around 600 - 4⭐️ World building was hella amazing. Characters were well-fleshed and the plot is interesting. Some minor, forgivable plot holes. Only glaring flaw is the underwhelming ending for villains, and MC letting go of robbers and the likes who are likely to try and harm the tribe again. 600 - End - 2⭐️ Everything started to get messy. MC letting go of enemies became the rule instead of the exception. He even treats them nicely and allows them to make demands sometimes. The origins and the powers of slave masters got retconned along the way. How Yi Xiang became that powerful is also left as a mystery. The mystery of the green lands was never explained. A lot of characters who were interesting at the start became useless people whose first line of thought is always to ask MC for help/advice. The Flaming Horns tribe is touted as ones with the strongest physical attributes, and MC is the strongest of them, with the sharpest, most durable weapons, and yet somehow there are enemies who can go toe to toe with him for several rounds before outrunning him to escape. Truly baffling.

This for me is worth reading. I like the story and the world building. It is refreshing to read something other than the typical novel that we have today.

Nice. One of the few novels I actually finished. Ending was kind of peaceful, but the overall story was still great. Wish there were more epilogues.

This is the second novel I've read from this author. I enjoyed the world building, the side characters and despite some plot holes and boring parts, it's a very worth while read.

its not bad just honestly disappointing because of the title i thought this novel will be about war a tribal war? a continental war? a war of survival? No, its about an adventure of a man reincarnated to the tribal era. oh the mc is from the future? will he make tech stuff? will he become a ruler? No, he have no desire to rule and honestly, even after the last chapter they doesnt seem to have manage to build a watermill. while i do say the novel is about adventure, but im pretty sure the place mc went this whole novel didnt reach 30, the explanation of this world made it look kinda big but practically mc just went back and forth to the same place, so not really exploring uncharted region. In this era people got their power from "fire" which give them a unique power (Strong body, changed body composition, unique sense). there is no magic like shooting fireball, calling thunder, creating ice. ( there is one fire that can call rain). the weird thing is at the epilogue the mc created taoism array, yes those wuxia array that people use for illusion trapping etc etc . the author glossed mc life after final battle, he suddenly have a second child that is already big enough for school, i mean come on atleast give a wedding scene. also the translation goes bad around 250ish, it get better but not as much as the original translation.

t’s been so long since I read a pure adventure / action novel. Doesn’t have the cr*ppy chinese cultivation stereotypes and is a bit different but I still enjoyed it.

Good plot, Decent World Building, Great MC, basically a good novel to read. This novel will not bore you with its action packed chapters. The author did a good job with the pacing of the story and the only negative thing about it is that its too short imo. I NEED MOAR!!!!!! Anways hope you guys will read it and enjoyed it like i did. (^-^)/

I loved this novel and couldn't stop reading, some part can be slow but overall is very interesting story, the worldbuilding is pretty good and the power levels aren't over the top. 9/10
