Earth's Greatest Magus

Good Morning/ Afternoon/ Evening/ or Night depending on when you decided to read this. I have read up to chapter 1900+ of this novel. I had dropped this novel for more than 3 months so that I can write about it in a clear-minded state after getting rid of as much hate as I can in a three month time span. I have spent a considerable time reading and pondering about this novel and had referred to other peoples comments and opinion. Using my views and their view as a reference, I will write about every negative point about it and the referred points will be marked as "(RF)". (i) The MC Emery Ambrose here is a overly optimistic person with an extremely naive view of his surrounding. It can be said that this naivety is repulsive even. He has went through so much trauma that a person with a normal and functioning frontal lobe can't be so nonchalant about it. He goes like nothing happened. [Partial (RF)] (ii) In author's word he a good guy who in his revenge on the slaughterer of his home and family, becomes benevolent about how human life is precious and that he will not kill unnecessarily, but he has no problem becoming a sword for some other person if it is told that he won't need to kill. He is okay with causing death indirectly but not directly. This contradictory mindset keep coming whenever the author needs him to be merciless and changes when he is needed to be benevolent. This ruins the story a little for me, but I can't say anything about you readers. (iii) Coming to romance, he is engaged (as in joined by the hips, and not marriage) to Klea just because the author said so. There is no development between them and Klea just says that he is her destined one at their first meeting. It feels that the author is trying to bring the trope of being together in highs and lows but is doing this very poorly. From the beginning, she keeps trying to gaslight Emery by saying that she is the best person for him and that she knows it. During the early stages of the romance, Klea invited him to her house to do you-know-what but chickens out in the middle and EMERY apologises to her for trying to act out of line, but similarly in another instance Klea tries to take a step in their relationship but Emery refuses (due to past trauma from not finding Morgana after coming back to Earth), and she looses her sh*t and breaks their relationship by saying that he will regret it and she knows it. Their relation is best described as gaslighting from Klea to Emery. (iv)This novel has a "No Harem" tag on it but there are multiple love interests and it is shown that Emery loves nearly all of them but to different levels. The authors has long since deviated from nearly the start at the introduction of Silva. From the moment I read about her and her description I knew that they will do the deed. After they do the deed on an abandoned planet, she becomes pregnant and instead of telling him about it like a normal sane person, she hides it. For what? because she didn't want to hold him back because he is destined for greatness. Don't even joke, I know you know that the other characters don't have any ability to know about someone's destiny. Next is the earth's princess and Emery's childhood friend. They had a disagreement b/cas the fey were the reason that her mother died. Her anger at that time was properly justifiable, like you know, if an alien did something to my family and that alien species come in front of me, I will also be pretty incensed. But, but but but, after that chick get's married to Arthur Pendragon (because she needed a backing to rebuild her kingdom) and finds that Emery is in a whole another league of strength and can understands that he had the ability to give her a better backing, she starts victimizing about how she "had" to marry him b/cas she needed it and how there was no love b/w them. This really irks me out b/cas if you see her and Arthur's interactions, you will see that he loves/cares for her, but she being an ungrateful b*tch, can't see it. She is constantly saying how she feels suppressed there and can't do anything. Mind you, she had left Emery after b*ng*ng him, literally ghosted him and then she still wants to come back to him. Now Morgana. In my honest opinion, she is the best girl for him (after you know what happened to Silva). They are both wolves, both of same species. They synergise well, and they are opposite to each other, i. e. , they counter each other's flow (forgive me if this point doesn't make much sense as I can't just write about an entire relation dynamic in a short review). Emery is on the sympathetic side while she is in the ruthless side. They complement and supplement each other quite beautifully. They are the leader and luna wolf of their pack respectively. Butt, you know what grinds my gears, the author is just mean to her. She is the spider man of this series, constantly being forced in bad and trauma inducing b/cas the author wanted some "dynamics". Annara | As far as I had read, they were on good terms and she wasn't romantically involves with him. This I consider good b/cas as of now Emery needs some actual friends who support him (I will come to it in later point about friendship dynamics). I would like this to continue likethis and not become like "Reincarnation of the strongest system" or other similar works This has gotten long enough so i will stop here but i could write for more than thriple of this in review and still not finish

Nonsense. Even though there was no harem tag, mc slept with 3 fmc. Moreover, one of the 3 fmc died. The only good thing about the story is the fights and the power system. Other than that mc is a loser and his personality is annoying and it took 1800 episodes for basic character development. He doesn't take responsibility for what he says and the relationships he has are disappointing to me. Honestly a waste of time.

The magic system is lazy, characters just gain powers with no real growth. The women are poorly written, existing only to serve as fan service just dont waste ur time.

it gets better. People just find it hard to understand a novelist intend. it baffles me cause I doubt if they actually did read the synopsis.

Look at the order low star reviews there’s no reason for me to repeat the common theme and no it does not get better don’t fall for the tricks

Summary, giving two stars is definitely conservative, but 1 star is not enough and it would seem like another pointless act, there are three topics to discuss, the first, the MC starts off weak and they will constantly remind you how untalented he is and the effort he must put in , when he finally gains some strength, with an excuse taken out of nowhere, he weakens and loses to opponents with whom he lost when he was much weaker, super frustrating. Secondly, romance, no wait, that is not romance, it is no longer a matter of monogamy or polygamy, it is a matter of when he approaches a girl, you are together and they give you satisfaction only for a couple of chapters, to then give, as in the case mentioned above, a nonsensical reason to walk away again, trust me, I'm not exaggerating, it's super frustrating. Third and lastly, the MC is too naive, trust me, more than you think, I also underestimated others when I read it, but I understand them, it is immature, there is almost no character development, and it seems that he has as a proverb constantly in his head that says "go where you are not called" or "give a second chance to your enemies and those who despise you to be stabbed in the back again, until chapter 500 it is not worth it, from the comments that I read, it doesn't get better, and even if it does, which it doesn't, it's seriously not even worth wasting time on 500 chapters just for some good ones, I don't think so. If you don't believe me, read until chapter 471, you will understand what I'm talking about.

I read it till 421 chapter because people said that story got better and he loses hi naivety. But it didn't. The plot is good. character is well written. sub characters are well written. World building is good. The character development is very slow. Story progression is super slow. He is still a naive little sh*t. Romance is sh*t. Sub story are very boring and long(like he decided to become a knight to infiltrate which has very reason for sub-plot but that was 30 chapter long. He is very very weak and it gets boring after some time and when he level up author made him weak again dew to some problem. It feels like author is making the story long only to fill up chapter.

Rather slow start with lots of grammar and spelling mistakes, but at some point reading this I was like holy shit this is great, It has a daily release schedule with a reliable author. The action scenes later on are fantastic and I love power sytems. The romance isnt always great with it leaning towards harem but all the girls are well rounded characters other than their minor obession with the MC

Great concept and story, it requires a lot of patience since the plot can get slow and the mc takes a long time to develop (some will like this, others won’t). I recommend to at least give it a chance.

The beginning of the novel is hard to read because the MC is naive and immature plus one of the love interests is extremely annoying but after he grows past the beginning the world building and the premise of the universe they are in the power system isn't the most unique but still interesting the side character are many and are all unique all having diffrent and interesting powers none of them are boring amazing fights action packed overall it's a solid novel that has a rough start but after that it's a great read highly recommended
