Greatest Legacy of the Magus Universe
Chapter 727: Mana Extraction

Back in the material world, in the underground storage unit of The Cage, the space suddenly tore open and Adam's soul body shot out of it, carrying with him a black staff.

As the portal to the Spirit World mended itself back, Adam's soul body and physical body merged together, becoming one.

The raven-haired youth slowly opened his eyes, looking around in silent scrutiny. Everything seemed to be fine in the storage unit, nothing was out of place.

His gaze was drawn towards the chubby gray cat guarding the entrance of the room, his lips curling up into a warm smile.

"Val," he called out gently.

"Mm..." The young dragon opened his groggy eyes, yawning intensely. He turned towards Adam and spoke in slight surprise, "Oh, Brother, you are back."

"How long has it been?" The youth asked.

The furry gray cat got on all fours and then stretched his body for a few moments before answering, "I think about a little less than three weeks."

Adam's pupils constricted and he thought to himself in alarm, Three weeks! I was with Lord White for no more than an hour, yet so much time has passed in the material world.

The concept of time is truly bizarre in the spirit world. I should be grateful that I still managed to return in time.

He made a note to himself to never visit the Spirit World again during times like these.

However, he could also argue that if he hadn't gone to that mystical dimension this time, he wouldn't have been able to acquire the Staff of Calamity.

"Did anything happen while I was gone?" He asked the young dragon. "Did Kael or Liriel come to look for me?"

Valerian shook his head, yawning again. "Nothing happened. Can I go back inside now? Sleeping on the floor was very uncomfortable. I want to sleep on the petal."

The petal… Adam was lost in thought.

The Eternal Soul Lotus!

Twenty years after acquiring this artifact, he finally got to learn a little about its history and what it was truly capable of.

It was a legendary soul-type artifact!

But that raised another question: Why was Valerian so drawn to it?

Could it be that his species is related to the spiritual aspect of magic? He wondered.

There were many species within the dragon race, yet those with a connection to the soul or the spirit were exceedingly rare.

Despite Adam absorbing the memories and experiences of several experts from the Greater Universe, he wasn't aware of any dragon that shared the same characteristics as Valerian.

Truth be told, the ability to reside within his spirit sea was a very bizarre ability, to begin with!

And this was not because Valerian was Adam's familiar, but because this was an inherent ability of the young dragon.

Alas, there was nothing Adam could do to get more information about Valerian's species. It was not like the young dragon himself knew it.

However, as Valerian continued to grow older, he would magically come to know more about himself and his lineage. Such was the power of the bloodline of the mighty dragons!

"Val, I need you to do something for me," the youth stated solemnly.

"What? Again?" Valerian grumbled, turning over and laying down on his back, kicking his limbs in the air. "I just stood guard for twenty days! Brother, what else do you want me to do?"

"Valerian, I will hit you!" Adam glared at the young dragon.

The furry little guy glanced at the youth with narrowed eyes. Then, he turned away from him, facing the door. "No!"

Adam could only heave a helpless sigh. "Fine, what do you want?"

"You increase my monthly allowance!"

"…Fine." Adam could only relent.

"Myu~" Valerian jumped toward the youth, fondly licking his cheek. "Brother, what do you want me to do?"

Adam rolled his eyes. "Go back up. See what Kael and Liriel are up to. If possible, help them. Or else, remain hidden. Okay?"

"Understood!"

The youth then got to his feet, walked toward the metal door of the storage unit. First, he made sure that no one was nearby and that it was safe.

Then, he undid all the runic security mechanisms he had set in place. He opened the door slightly and allowed the little guy to leave.

"If anything serious happens, make sure to notify me," he said solemnly. The young dragon nodded his head and then bolted through the gap in the door.

After seeing his dear familiar disappear into the dark corridors, Adam locked the door, activating all the runes again. He had to ensure that no one would disturb him.

Especially considering what he was about to do was very critical.

He wiped his face, removing his disguise completely. Then, he removed his robes and tossed it to the side. He grabbed the black staff that he had kept on the ground, and put it away inside his obsidian hoop earrings.

The youth then continued to alter the runic formation on the ground, ensuring that it served his new purpose.

From a formation that allowed him to enter the Spirit World, he changed it to one that gathered the ambient mana in the air and funneled it towards him.

Also, he added concealment runes to the formation.

Finally, after more than an hour, the new runic formation was complete. He sat down cross-legged at the center of it. His body was bare, his breathing was steady, and his eyes were determined.

For a brief moment, his expression revealed slight regret and disappointment. He couldn't help but bitterly smile, "I really wanted to participate in the Grand Magus Tournament…"

The next moment, however, he resolved himself.

For a Magus, nothing should be more important than magic!

His dark eyes blazed with fire and he began weaving a complex set of hand seals. A minute later, he grabbed his right wrist with his left hand, gazing at it with narrowed eyes.

Then, the fingers on his right hand glowed with mana one after another. A moment later, Adam cast another hand seal with his free hand, causing black ink in the shape of tiny serpents to become visible in his abdominal area.

Adam moved his right hand and pressed his mana-infused fingers on the serpentine ink circling around the surface of his stomach—the area between his kidneys.

Then, he spun his hand, unsealing his mana channels!

At once, the runic formation began to devour large amounts of mana from the surroundings. At the same time, Adam revolved the Five Elemental Codex and started extracting the mana into his body.

His mana channels that had once turned stagnant now overflowed with mana. The mystical energy slowly started to transfrom into liquid and flowed in an orderly pattern.

Out of chaos, order emerged.

Then, it began forming a whirlpool in Adam's abdominal region, constantly revolving and gathering into a single point.

A supernatural and overbearing aura radiated from the youth, whipping his hair in the winds stirred by his own energy.

His eyes blazed with a brilliant light, for he knew that this was the moment.

The ascent to the Mana Vortex Rank had begun!!
