This is peak xianxia, redefined what a 10/10 for me is. If you like cultivation this is a must read, there is no plot armor, all tropes are masterfully navigated, and even bad decisions by characters are realistic and not frustrating. Some below will claim its sexist with how women are treated sometimes in regards to marriage but you may disregard the tourists, that is how all cultivation novels are and this one respects them a lot more than any other while being realistic and believable with them.

Note to upcoming reader: There's one main character in the story, the MIRROR, he's the core of the story the guardian and narrator. And there's the central MC, the Li Family, this novel is about the rise of the Li family, with the help of the mirror. This is a clan building novel, the Mirror only appears once in a blue moon, the main focus is the struggle and rise of Li family.

Just gave a casual look at the comments and I have to admit that this is the most unique aspect of argument I've seen in any novel's comment section... Can someone just tell me what all this gender stuff is about.. I don't mind spoilers.

The wives of the main cast is rarely seen but this is just a minor issue as they weren't important characters anyway. The main issue people were talking about is Li Jingtian which is one of the main cast and is very intelligent and cunning so people were rooting for her to receive an oppurtunity to cultivate but she wasn't given so due to various reasons. She was then coerced to marry with a genuinely nice guy call Chen Donghe but obviously it's still coersion. Even her father dismissed her repeatedly. She spent her whole life that way, suffering and not given an oppurtunity to fulfill her real ambition. Due to this many people were frustated about this development, however it became a theme/regret for many Li family members of this decision later on in the story. One of them, Li Xuanxuan, was hallucinating due to his regret on this decision. Basically people didn't know that this was a plot point for the author to use to develop characters later in the story.

This novel is epic. No unnecessary plot and dialogues. Sufficient char depth. Amazing plot, good power system, harrowing antagonists, original idea and well thought out too Hope it continues to be underrated lest fans from the top ranking deliberately nitpick about it

Its sad that even with such an amazing work. People try to discredit it by bringing up gender wars into it. The novel does enough in the aspects of women, major characters are brought up and developed and female characters are not sexualized at all

I really don't understand people who are upset about the lack of strong women. After all, everyone is human. But other than that, if you're really into strong women, go read other Chinese novels. There are many strong women who live forever in most Chinese novels.

issue is that this is a good novel. the same questionable stuff that you read & forget in other novels seems especially highlighted here. i wrote a few comments about author disregarding female characters when li jingtian was introduced and just thought she deserved better. imo this has been a recurring issue since the start, you have so much character depth for li mutian and all of his sons and barely 2-3 descriptions about their mother. im not pointing fingers at the characters and saying give her the seed cause she's a girl but we've mostly had male pov's and i genuinely thought the novel could've been better if we could get a pov and understand some of jingtian's decisions. then i read further and thought it's better if chinese authors don't write about female characters. (these were my exact thoughts when i read those chs. as of now (ch 253) i wholeheartedly disagree with this and have no issues ever since qinghong's introduction) the only person i hate till now is xuanxuan.

People that are pressed about the whole patriarchy and morality aspect of the story, trust me just push through, the author knows what he is doing especially from the recent chapters.

not patriarchal but i was indeed a bit put off seeing author gloss over female characters, but that was a phase i quickly got over and it only lasted some 20 chapters. i've read till ch 253 and can confirm, the story does get better.

I definitely see your point! I just really want to point out that a lot of seemingly obvious issues in the novel that many readers like you find will be addressed in the future chapters. If the novel were to neglect female characters fully, I won't be here glazing it periodically lol

I guess the author lowered Xiang Ping's intelligence and increased Li Jingtian's intelligence due to reader protests.Suddenly, after Li Jingtian appeared, the intelligence of the men in the family decreased so that she could highlight Jingtian! I always feel that since Chinese writers are mostly simpletons, the writer can't bear to see women die, so he focuses on men, and later increases the number of women as the family's power increases.

Just read dude. Why are you wasting time commenting about old chapters here? Why not just comment on that chapter? Ohhh, was it because you're afraid people wont see your comments or something?

I want to say that the author has reduced people's intelligence because of the protests of some idiots for misogyny. And that made me angry.
